Even the most phantastic depiction grows organically, naturally out of the painting like this sea monster. It's wholesome. In contrast to some of his epigones also on display at the Tate Gallery in London, there never seems to be something added, no additive that feels alien to the whole. Almost every time I go to London I'm sure to visit this great painter.
