Is Sherlock omnipotent?

Spoiler alert for anyone who has not yet watched "A Scandal in Belgravia", please do not read on, for there might be some spoilers here.

I must admit that this episode fully fulfilled the high expectations, yet I had my troubles with the last ten minutes, which felt so much like a fairy tale ending; for Sherlock is apparently omnipotent, always being at the right spot if his dearest are in need, and if so he is also benevolently forgiving them all their wrongs/sins, even if they had been abusing his most precious, his intellect. Speaking of which, he might be everywhere indeed, but come once as close as to arousing any emotions in him at all, and he starts to lose hold of his intellectual powers, at least as far as that he gets less cautious.

PS: My husband couldn't help but comment on the numberplate of the car that took Sherlock to the airport, for it almost bore my surname - the pronunciation would be the same but the spelling wrong -, which happens to be not my husband's by the way ;D.

Mercurial

This morning I was treated to watch this video and it is quite remarkable, as it left me with the insight that we must be living in a truly mercurial age. Especially the final passage dealing with the personal and physical impact of this sort of life style is more than telling and even as far as artists must feel very grateful for this collector, still I wonder where this will drive - lead would be far too slow considering the acceleration I'm sensing - us.

Der Beuys'che und der Chesterton'sche Kunstbegriff AKA Art according to Beuys and Chesterton

In a way the art term of Joseph Beuys and Gilbert Keith Chesterton correspond, and I do regard them both very highly. According to Beuys extented definition of art (erweiterter Kunstbegriff) anything could be art - and as far as I interpret it, if something is art or not, really depends on the attitude of the maker to his /her product -; according to Chesterton art is made by the urge to create something and to seperate oneself from it - i.e in my interpretation: to produce it, or even simpler to do it... In some odd way this doesn't by the way imply that everything is art ;), but maybe only that even the artist is but an ordinary person, that distinguishes himself/herself only because he/she has found his/her vocation and dared to live up to it.

"If I Weren't a Wood...

...I would wrap you in with drifting wood; I'd take you down like a river would"

Daan's version is quite congenial, but I believe I still prefer Dead Man Ray's a little bit more ;)!

Imagination - Vorstellungskraft II

To be able to see it all at once, the image and the paint, the line and the space - Imagination. And when it comes to having and exercising the power of imagination. Who would be more trained a common boy or some upper-class i***t, who does not have to use it, for everything he beholds and desires he will get?!     Have it your way ;)

AKA

If you ever come across a copy of Journey into Chaos by Karl/ Charles Wollf read it and think "What a Life". And I'm still feeling grateful for the kindest feedback  I ever got ;)

Vor dem Gesetz - Before the law

Ever since I've been treated to be made aware of "Before the law" by Franz Kafka I had this instant view of the parable being a (bitter) joke. And now Kasper König has chosen "Vor dem Gesetz" as motto for his final exhibition at the Museum Ludwig Köln, it all makes me wonder again.
For my initial interpretation, which I can hardly come across anywhere, was that the man from the country should by all means have taken the decision to enter. It has been his singular doorway all along. In a way I wonder if this should be also the attitude of the artist: Know what you've come here for and do it. Yet there are of course the guard(s) - others he has only heard of -, but I'm sure that I know them by name and they are pretty powerful indeed, like "Sense of Shame", "Sense of Decency", "Reputation"...

For once be bold and live rather the adventurous life, for indeed I've come across people, who regretfully do have a vocation in their life - something they would in private confess to and issues I  believe only them to be capable of -, but alas this stupid reputation was/is confessedly in their way.

Zu-fall

This morning I was informed that abebooks had found some items matching my search for publications of "Royal Shakespeare Company" between 1974 and 1981 (in fact I'm looking for yearbooks) and they turned out to be two programmes for a play entitled "Sherlock Holmes". Later on this came up, my favourite radio station dedicating an hour of classic rock music to tears, entitled "96 Tears". A funny coincidence when one imagines that I'm well aware of the fact that all over the world some people are growing hysteric about the fact that today  the final episode of the second series of "Sherlock" will be broadcast... ;D. Poor John!

Alas the link does not work correctly any more, it was a radio show of mainly 60s songs entitled "96 Tears", after this:

Begeisterung

Just For the Fun of It

And to celebrate the oddness of some perfect afternoon, that came unexpectedly...

Well, and this one I have to catch somewhere this year, especially with a new album that reportedly rocks more than the previous ones ;)!

Only The Weak

"The modern world, when it praises its little Caesars, talks of being strong and brave: but it does not seem to see the eternal paradox involved in the conjunction of these ideas. The strong cannot be brave. Only the weak can be brave; and yet again, in practice, only those who can be brave can be trusted, in time of doubt, to be strong."

G(ilbert) K(eith) Chesterton

This is hoping for a second chance ;D:

Just to have a go at the newly arrived Indian ink and paper...

"The Man in Black" ;D

I certainly never loved the icons or even the symbols. What is a symbolic act btw - virtually nothing. And the more you look around the more is talked of "symbolic actions, etc".

Plus an award for the most beautiful choreographie involving a vacuum cleaner...

Ein Brief - A Letter

"It could have been a little bit more adventurous! But maybe this is going to change??! Is such  a pretty lame crowd, the way it presents itself or rather we present ourselves, anyway worthy of an academy? Is this a sign of our times, that appears to be lacking all motivation? We will see!"

A sort of ... apology

This man is surely puzzling me..."En ikke", surely speaks a different language, the conceived alleged haughtiness suddenly gives way to an utter, beautiful shyness ;).

You've been warned....

I've just found out that this was the No 1 in the UK on my birthday ...
