Merry Christmas and a Joyous 2015!

There is a charity I support every year: Music For Life.

You may choose a song here and then choose how much to pay for it and which charity may benefit. There are more than 800.

Vanwege "Tuin"

Though I can perfectly well tell the advantages of owning a smartphone or a mobile, I belief I will refrain from doing so a little bit longer.

The main reason is that knowing myself far too well I fear I will get addicted to this constant possibility of communication. Apart from walking like a zombie, it would also stop me from living my life, living the present. I would not hear the word "tuin" when passing some people in Chichester. I would not realise that they are Dutch tourists looking for the entrance to the beautiful Bishop's Garden. An entrance rather hard to find because one has to step through a gate that does not look like a passage at all. I would not turn to them and give them direction. We would have missed so much of the present...

Pride, Despair and Affection

It's like watching a big train crash in slow motion.

Pride, if the most dangerous person you can be with is yourself. Thus the worst of all the deadly sins.

The only remedy:

Manchmal - Sometimes

Manchmal ist es einfach die Weise, wie sich zwei Linien kreuzen, rein zufällig, für immer eingeschrieben, von Ewigkeiten her gedacht, unseres Erkennens harrend.

Sometimes it's just the way two lines cross each other, accidentally, forever engraved, predicted from the beginning, just awaiting our recognition.

Leerstellen - Blank Spaces

This is where the beholder of art has truly to work his imagination to create - the blank spaces that every good work of art should contain.

Whatever is "the pursuit of fun as you find it on Gate Street" - frankly I can imagine it, though your view might quite differ.

BTW Renauld and Jakob for president!!!

A Taste For The Absurd

The Readiness is All*

Just because the world is full of meaning and meaningful, I like the absurd. There are things out there that I do not understand at once, but because deep in my heart I know there is something behind it, my curiosity is triggered. Often this attitude has had an amazing outcome.

* Hamlet, William Shakespeare...Judging by this talk to both, Michael Pennington and Kenneth Branagh, their favourite line as Hamlet ;)!

The Eye of the Beholder

Surely an eye can never lie. So if you are looking for the truth the eye is the place to behold.

What if a handshake was not just meant to exclude the existence of a weapon, but also to bring you close enough to look whomever straight in the eye...

Gottvertrauen - Trust in God

I'm still wondering about the Muslim who told me right into my face on first sight ever that he perceived that I had a great trust in God.

All this introspection

Soziale Plastik - Social Sculpture*

There's so many aspects to this term. So many we desperately need to dig once again.

Exampli gratia the idea that everybody has a talent in which he or she excels or the fact that we have to take good care of each other.
