My Personal Litmus Test

is a person's view on Cymbeline. And I'm sorry to say, that to see it as a parody on the grounds that there is a development or even more a shift in the characters' attitudes - especially Posthumus - as the play's action unfolds, won't convince me. One might argue that in a drama the characters' flaws and tragic entanglements are established and inevitably lead to the final downfall, but Shakespeare's inventions are more sublime and lifelike. To radically change one's opinion when confronted with the effects of one's action is not a flaw, but a strength!
