Tragically Funny

So I have watched this sitcom and I always believed those comedies the best that resolve potentially tragic situations - preferably into laughter. Yet here it was not resolved, instead there was to all us sore losers a lesson of how to be a good sport. I guess the tragicomedy is even more subtle.
