Misconception

It's quite a fallacy to believe that limits or limitation is bad for creativity. In fact the more limits there are, the more one has to exercise once imagination.

Once Max Kobbert, a professor of psychology, told us about an experiment he had taken part in. He was put into a dark and silent place for several hours. This was of course terrifying at first, but after some time imagination set in and he was beginning to see patterns, which grew ever more elaborate.

This sort of reminded me of Stefan Zweig's Schachnovelle or The Royal Game.
