The best apple I've ever tasted - and I do remember this though it's decades ago - was a tiny shrivelled rather ugly looking one, yet it smelled and tasted wonderful.
There is a lot to be said in favor of Peter Brook's approach to rehearsals and the exercise he does, not only from an actor's perspective I guess, but also very much from the audience's. Both have to work to establish the imaginary reality of the tightrope ;)!
